Sample mountain bike route description and map for technical ride from Soller town to Cala Tuent

A good route with nice coastal views. Very popular with walkers. Cala Tuent is a fine beach with an excellent restaurant passed on route just before the beach. The ride is best done during the spring and autumn when the boat from Cala Tuent to Soller is running. The boat company is; Barcos Azule www.barcosazules.com, 0034 971 63 01 70 Ring the night before to confirm the boat is running, otherwise the route will either have to reversed or return via the road from Sa Calobra. (The boat cost 14 euro one way, includes bike)
Initially the ride follows the same route into the Balitx Valley from Soller as route 2.
Start in Soller Town Square. Follow the tram tracks towards the Port for approximately 200m. The road bears right past the Gran Hotel Soller and then past a car park on the left. Turn right over a steel bridge following signs to Biniaraix/Fornalutx.
At the entrance of the football stadium (Camp du Futbol) turn right on the MA2122/GR221. Follow this road for 200m, from the Camp du Futbol, until you reach the “Pont de Ca’n Rave” bridge.
Turn left at this bridge following the walking footpath sign to Binibassi/GR221 (Cami de ses Moncodes). After 100m, turn right on to the Cami de S’ermita. Follow this for a further 200m until the road splits. Take the Cami de Sa Capelleta (the left branch). The road turns into a track. Follow this track through a green gate and continue uphill.
You will now be following this track for most of the uphill riding on the route. Initially follow this until a main road is reached after 3km total distance from the town square. (Caution Traffic) At the main road turn right and follow the road for 50m and then turn left back onto the track. Follow track uphill for a further 2.2km to a junction. Turn right continue uphill for a further 1.5km to a junction. (At this junction if you turn right you will reach a viewpoint and refreshments after 60M)
From the junction continue along the track into the Balitx Valley. After entering the valley through the gates, a footpath sign is seen after 800m. Either continue on the track or follow the footpath (technical). Continue past Balitx d’Amunt until the track splits 10.5km total distance from start (3.8 from the Mirador) either take the path (technical) signed Balitx de Avall / Cala Tuent or follow the left hand track downhill until the large farmhouse is reached. From here take the track to the right going slightly uphill until another track junction is shortly reached, turn left, sign indicating fresh orange juice, good rest stop
From here you will be following signs for Cala Tuent. It’s easier to follow the 4X4 track and not the path until the Coll de Biniamar is reached. From here follow signs indicating the way to Cala Tuent.
